Division two of the maiden can see Ice Palace defy an absence to overcome the fitter Bijoux and interesting newcomer Alkaadhem. Ice Palace went off fancied on her Lingfield introduction last August thanks to some encouraging homework, but she was taken off her feet by Avonbridge due to the very fast ground. Off the track since, she has been striding out well at home and will appreciate any rain. Owned by the Chevely Park Stud, the number one priority will be to earn black type before being shipped off to the paddocks. Out to stop her is the much more experienced Bijoux who chased home Nasij at Ascot last July but who has failed to build on that promise since. She was even tried over a mile and a half at Chepstow a month ago, and patently lacks a gear. If Ice Palace is to be turned over then it could be by Alkaadhem, a son of Green Desert whose stable had a first time out winner the other day, also owned by Hamdan Al Maktoum. These maidens do tend to throw up the odd surprise result, but we will stay loyal with Ice Palace to oblige.
