In depth

Verdict

In a very modest contes, Tuppence A Bag is selected ahead of Early Benefit and Thehonourablelady. A half-sister to bumper winner Widemouth Bay, Tuppence A Bag has shown ability in winning a bumper and then running pretty well when attempting to follow up under a penalty. She really ought to be able to go well here on her hurdling debut and, accordingly, gets the nomination. Early Benefit. did at least show some promise in Ireland before joining Evan Williams and really ought to be able to compete at this level. Thehonourablelady is also an Irish import and, in the context of this race, a fourth of 18, albeit having been beaten 25 lengths, off a mark of 90 in a handicap on her British debut, makes her look fairly competitive today also. Once again, though, the selection is Tuppence A Bag.
