SOLAR IMPULSE launched a successful raid on France a couple of weeks ago and was only beaten a length by Double W's at Warwick earlier. Ruth Jefferson’s top weight idled in front that day but Ian Williams’ charge didn’t get the clearest of runs in the closing stages and is fancied to reverse the form on 7lb better terms. Double W's may also struggle to confirm Stratford running with Champagne At Tara on worse terms with the pair holding Mcgroarty on that run. Chirico Vallis has struggled in handicaps to date and faces a tough task returning from a break.
Double W's (IRE) 2-1fav (11-10) Held up last, headway way on outside when blundered 3 out and rider lost iron, recovered to chase leaders between last 2, led before last, kept on well run-in, won at Stratford 2m 1f hcp (2) gd in Jun beating Champagne At Tara (11-12) by 1 1/2l, 6 ran.
Champagne At Tara 6-1 (11-12) Held up in touch, good headway on inside approaching 4 out, 4th travelling well between last 2, hanging left when not clear run approaching last, went 2nd last, driven and no impression run-in, 2nd of 6, 1 1/2l behind Double W's (11-10) at Stratford 2m 1f hcp (2) gd in Jun.
Mcgroarty (IRE) 10-3 (11-12) Chased leader until hit 8th, weakening when blundered badly 3 out, tailed off, 5th of 6, dist behind Double W's (11-10) at Stratford 2m 1f hcp (2) gd in Jun.
Solar Impulse (FR) (10-10) won at Clairefontaine 2m 2f gd in Jun beating Maresias (11-0) by 20l, 7 ran.
