In depth

Verdict

A race that has cut up badly from the five day stage and DARK BEN could take the honours with Ballykelly and Coach Lane likely to give him most to think about. Simon West's charge actually stays further than this 2m6f and with the going as testing as it is; that could hold him in good stead this afternoon. A winner at Newcastle after a two year absence, he was far from disgraced at Catterick last time out behind Ballabriggs. Ballykelly is in receipt of plenty of weight. He would be an interesting proposition if tried under front running tactics this afternoon. Coach Lane is undoubtedly well handicapped in relation to some of his earlier form. Unfortunately his backers have had to suffer quite a number of reverses in their wait for him to take advantage of the handicappers' benevolence. Rosie All Over does not win that often though acts on soft going. Pelo Du Bief is hard to fancy. Four realistic contenders and of the quartet, Dark Ben appears to have most in his favour.
