Donald McCain held a number of entries at the five-day stage and he relies upon CLONDAW DRAFT to get off the mark in the opener. The five-year-old won a point-to-point at Bennettsbridge before switching to racing under Rules, and while he's been beaten in two bumpers to date, he should appreciate this step up in trip. Western Prize was a fair stayer on the Flat and won a couple of races for Ralph Beckett. He was well supported on debut at Worcester, though compromised his chances with a series of errors. Piper Hill had some solid form in Irish bumpers but was well held in a maiden over course and distance last week, while Danandy ran encouragingly at Newton Abbot and his stable are back among the winners. Sterling Gent is rated 103 and Liam Corcoran's six-year-old will be the benchmark for the assessor to work from.
