Verdict

MOHAYER attracted good support last time out and he can make amends today with a victory over Karky Schultz and Dontpaytheferryman. Now trained by Jonjo O'Neill, the selection comes here on the back of a solid second to Akarshan at Market Rasen. The handicapper has put him up by 4lb for that run but he is still well-handicapped on his old form and is narrowly preferred here. Dontpaytheferryman's second to Eradicate looks extremely strong in the context of this race and the form has been franked since. With the ground to his liking he looks sure to be high on any shortlist. Spear Thistle is a course winner and his Lingfield win in November reads well, however his latest run at Kempton was miles below par and he isn't one to trust. Medicinal is thrown in on his old form and didn't run badly at Wincanton last time out, Karky Schultz is consistent and did well to fend off the gutsy Novikov here last month, whilst L'Eau Du Nil is also consistent and pays with the handicapper as a result. Elk Trail, The Gloves Are Off and Karashar are all worth a second lance, however the narrow vote is given to Mohayer.
