This looks an above average race for the time of year and the market should be watched concerning American Legend on his debut for Jonjo O'Neill. A close relation to the ill-fated Snow Tern, the Presenting gelding could literally be anything. Butler was no mug on the Flat when with Luca Cumani, and Tim Vaughan thought enough of him to take a tilt at a Listed prize his hurdling debut. Though rated some way beneath the latter on the Flat, it could pay to stick with the somewhat safer option of CLARION CALL. Evan Williams' charge does possess more experience than most in this field and it could be argued that he was unlucky to come up against an above average recruit at Newton Abbot on his most recent outing. In receipt of a 3lb allowance that he receives as weight-for-age, he looks to be the benchmark for the opposition.
