    Verdict

Just the three runners and Red Sun, despite his welter weight, gets the nod from us. The John Mackie-trained gelding runs here under a seven-pound penalty following an easy win at Market Rasen 10 days ago. A consistent type, at five years of age he also has scope for improvement - plus the able assistance of Tony McCoy. Waterspray has been raised three pounds for an Exeter win, although he maybe got the run of the race there and can sometimes spoil his chances by pulling too hard. Spandau gets a massive 27lbs from the selection but is eight pounds higher in the ratings than for his best previous winning mark. However, at nine years of age, he has less scope than the selection who might just find the race panning out to suit him. As such, Red Sun gets the vote.
