      Verdict

Probus Lord holds the best official rating in a race where Jolly Red and Nat Gold make some appeal. Christopher Down's charge demonstrated substantially improved form for his new trainer when finishing second to Dealer's Choice at Newton Abbot. If he handles today's surface, he looks the one that they all have to beat. Martin Pipe regularly farms modest races like this and Jolly Red is his representative. He didn't show too much in a Taunton bumper but owner Terry Warner likes the odd tilt at the ring and any money should be heeded. Nat Gold has been touted as a stayer by connections but has yet to show any worthwhile form under rules. Cash Return is exposed as moderate but a step up in trip could yield dividends. Troysgreen's recent placing was a very distant fifth of five at Perth.
