Verdict

Whilst Hilfiger and Lion On The Prowl have solid form claims and Calypso Bay may be capable of taking this contest, it might be worth taking a chance on decent flat handicapper SOCCERJACKPOT. Tom O'Brien's mount is rated 93 on the level and if he can translate that form to obstacles he'd have excellent claims. He won one race on the turf on good ground so conditions should be fine and, as he's won over nine furlongs on the flat, he should be able to stay the distance here. He's given an each-way vote ahead of Hilfiger who ran well on his debut for Ian Williams last time. That form hasn't yet been given a boost but the feeling is it sets the standard here and with improvement likely he'll be hard to beat. Calypso Bay is rated 78 on the level and stays 1m2f so it'd be no surprise to see him figure with genuine good ground to suit so keep an eye on the market, although at this stage Lion On The Prowl would be a more solid betting proposition having shown up well in bumpers. Zakatal ran well on his debut but as he won over just shy of 1m7f when trained in France he'd surely want to go further whilst Hypnotic Gaze has plenty to find on his flat rating. This is an interesting maiden hurdle that is taken to go to Soccerjackpot.
