In depth

Verdict

This looks a competitive, handicap-hurdle and Pseudonym gets a tentative vote with Heathcote, Dennick, Linnet and Trompette rated the main dangers. Pseudonym has gone up ten ponds for his recent Newbury win but he looks the sort to defy the adjusted rating. He was an impressive winner that day and he is fancied to follow up here under Paddy Brennan. Heathcote is not a natural jumper and he has done well to win a couple of novice handicaps at Plumpton and Ling field, however he looks as though he will have too much to do at the weights. Dennick has McCoy in the saddle but his victories have come in selling company. He won those as you like but this is a big step up in class and he may be found out. Linnet ran in the Triumph Hurdle behind Detroit City last time out and is not without his chances here now he is dropped back to handicap-company and he looks on a reasonable mark. Trompette relished the testing conditions at Plumpton on Monday but that was a testing race and there is a suspicion that this race may come too soon. Pseudonym gets a tentative vote in the novices' handicap-hurdle.
