Verdict

COLONIAL JIM can continue the purple patch of the Neil Mulholland yard although Major Miller and Prof d' Lisle are likely to have their supporters. The selection has been given a hefty rise in the weights for seeing off the ultra-consistent Cannon Fire last time out but all credit must go to the trainer for getting him in off a basement rating and on ground that suits, he will be difficult to beat. Major Miller is a half-brother to the smart Miller's Bay. He ran a creditable race at Huntingdon without threatening to win it. He would need to reverse form with Prof d' Lisle in order to land this contest. Battle Stations was something of a surprise winner at Aintree but he would not be inconvenienced by any give in the ground today. Patsy Finnegan is not one of the stable stars at the Alan King yard. The maiden produced a respectable effort behind The Nightingale at Taunton and is unlikely to meet anything like that on this occasion. The form of Benmore Boy's last run was given a significant boost by Busker Royale last week so Henrietta Knight's charge is one to note in the market. Colonial Jim can land the three-timer.
