Verdict

We open with a competitive three mile Novice Hurdle in which David Pipe¿s LORD TOMNODDY just about sets the standard so is given the nod ahead of Watamu Bay and Gentle Carabou is also considered. Having found the one too good in two of his last three starts in this sphere the gelding looked in need of extra yardage when putting in one of those silver performances last time. He's relatively well treated by the make up of this race and should prove too strong for the opposition. Watamu Bay is certainly on form at present but despite a good looking win at Ffos Las on his last start he has more to do under a penalty and that weight might be telling. Gentle Carabou receives a mare's allowance and has shaped well enough on a few starts to suggest she should mount a challenge now upped in trip. Upham Atom is given a chance based on his official mark but in a tricky opener Lord Tomnoddy looks like a winner in waiting.
