A decent sized field goes to post but realistic contenders are thin on the ground and GOLD REEF should be good enough to land this. Chief amongst the dangers are Naturally Inspired and stablemate Silver Spinner. The selection is the pick of stable jockey Robert Thornton and she has leading form claims on the form that she showed in bumpers last season. Her hurdling debut at this track was slightly disappointing in light of that but she should be given the chance to set the record straight. Naturally Inspired stepped up on last year's performances when second here in June and she may be able to make her presence felt now hurdling. Present Climate is another that may benefit from jumping an obstacle whilst there may also be more to come from Romantic Bridge and Cobbler's Queen but Silver Spinner could cause more problems. She looked in need of a stiffer test when making her hurdling debut over two miles at this track and should put that experience to good use this afternoon but she has something to find with Gold Reef.
