Verdict

Union Deux looked a horse to keep on the right side of when scoring at Wetherby last week and is taken to follow up at the main expense of Star Time and Bdellium. The last mentioned ran a satisfactory race on her reappearance behind Kinburn at Wetherby and in receipt of weight from all three of her rivals has to be respected. The River Joker is best in at the weights according to official BHB ratings but John Upson has had a quiet start to the season and he is probably best watched for the time being. Of more interest then may be Star Time who lost no caste in defeat to Hallrule at Carlisle on Sunday and Michael Scudamore's gelding holds solid claims on that evidence. The vote though goes to Ferdy Murphy's Union Deux who ran out an easy winner of a handicap at Wetherby last week and is fancied to give weight away all round.
