Gone Platinum, a bumper winner at Kilbeggan in May, was well supported for his hurdling debut at Gowran a month later but didn't run as well as expected. Timing'severything was a 33/1 chance on his bumper debut at Punchestown in April but defied the odds with an impressive victory and has been purchased by J P McManus. Deputy Marshall put a couple of poor efforts behind him when a close third at Clonmel in June while The Welsh Wizard has produced some decent efforts and Paul Townend's booking is eye-catching. All of Battle Hymn's runs over timber have been on heavy going and if the ground eases considerably he would need to be considered but the vote, in an open contest, goes to hurdling newcomer MARAKOUSH. A winner by seven lengths on the Flat at Ballinrobe in August of last year, he went for 185,000 euros at Goffs the following month and has joined the in-form Alan Fleming.
