In depth

Verdict

The going will obviously play an important part but it won't bother Balmont Mast, though he's a massive 16lb higher than when completing a double in October. Luisant is another who won't mind the conditions though it's a long time since he ran over the minimum trip. He's steadily dropping to a mark from which he should be winning, though it may be over an extra furlong. Gordon Lord Byron had been going well at Dundalk during the winter and showed the benefit with a cracking effort behind Maarek at Cork on ground with some give. He looks certain to give a good account though he's yet to race over the minimum trip in 12 outings and MY GIRL ANNA could have his measure. She finished just behind in that race at Cork, having been in the lead at today's distance, and as she gained her only Turf success on soft going she's handed the vote. Geraldines Lass has only won on fast going but Kateeva has a C&D success to her credit in testing conditions.
