Verdict

A tough maiden to unravel with several holding realistic chances including Willie Mullins' lightly-raced Up The Beat, who probably found 2m4f on the short side at Navan last time. Winning point-to-pointer Saved By John steps up to this trip for the first time over timber and is sure to be suited after a fine run behind Jim Will Fix It at Clonmel while another winner between the flags, Resolute Bay, should also reach his peak over today's trip. Jack Bene hasn't had much experience but looks certain to win soon judging on his latest starts which included an excellent second behind Stay at Tramore on New Year's Day. It will be a surprise if he's not there at the business end but PORTRAIT KING gets the vote after an improved run when stepped up to this trip for the first time at Naas where he beat all bar Lambro in a big field.
