This is a beginners' chase for horses rated 102 or less over hurdles and Bentham was rated 114 at the beginning of the season. A triple bumper winner, he's had a dozen starts over fences and been generally disappointing. Coconut Tudor's neck defeat over timber at Limerick in April puts him in the picture for his chasing debut while General Clermont, who didn't show much in four starts over fences earlier this year, has been going quite well over timber. Prince Zaltar has a fine chasing pedigree so his victory over hurdles at Tramore was a bonus and he arrives after a good run in a Downpatrick novices' hurdle. WINDING RIVER won over timber in March and four runs over fences have seen him narrowly beaten twice and failing to finish twice. He looks the one to beat.
