At his best, Hunting Ground would be a prime contender here but he's only beaten five of his 57 rivals on his last five starts and is becoming impossible to put forward with any confidence, although stable runners can suddenly find their form from nowhere. Jan Smuts just got home at Newcastle last time and goes well on the ground so has to be on any shortlist whilst Longshadow stays forever and a day and has a fair shout once again. Making greater appeal though is MEDIEVAL BISHOP as the Walford gelding shaped with promise on both starts in May and should stay the additional quarter mile here on this quick ground. A course winner last term, he should be spot-on now and makes plenty of appeal.
