In depth

Verdict

Wi Dud is preferred to Utmost Respect in a fascinating little heat. Kevin Ryan's charge did remarkably well as a three year-old, finishing second to Hoh Mike in a Sandown Group 3 in July and he wasn't beaten far in a couple of subsequent outings in Group 1 company. He should be a threat to all in the sprinting division now that he's got another year on his back and should be all the better for his reappearance. This is no cakewalk though as the lightly raced Utmost Respect is a serious performer. He has yet to try his hand in Pattern company but there's no doubt that he should be able to make the step up and these conditions could play into his hands. Big Timer was a promising juvenile but struggled at three; he showed signs that he could be on his way back in Dubai this winter but a watching brief remains the best course of action whilst the veteran Celtic Mill is opposable on this ground on his return. Wi Dud rates the form pick and will do for us.
