Not the easiest of starts for punters on a tough card. Shamaheart raced at Wolverhampton throughout the winter without much luck and did better when reverting to fast ground at Redcar. Old Man Clegg reappeared with a good second at Newcastle though that was in a lower grade handicap. He finished around 6l behind Echo Of Lightning when Brian Ellison's charge scored at Leicester in October though that was on soft ground. Secret City and Whispered Times occupied the places in a Redcar seller last week and this is tougher but BIRDMAN is given the nod. He's joined David O'Meara and though out of form after winning at Lingfield last January he's dropped 23lb in a year and his new handler can exploit his handicap mark. Colour My World spent most of last year on the all-weather but scored at Leicester on his final start and there could be more to come. Woodbridge disappointed at Wolverhampton last month after scoring there a couple of weeks earlier.
