Verdict

Although Tizzy May had by far the best form of this bunch as a two-year-old, his performances reached a plateau half way through last season, and his effort in the Guineas was inconclusive as to whether he has retained the ability to cope with being tried over a mile this term. Therefore if can pay to concentrate on the two with proven stamina, Excellento and Mubeen, with the former edging a narrow vote on the grounds of anticipated improvement. He looked a useful prospect when getting the better of a Mark Johnston-trained rival on his reappearance at Ripon last month, before confirming the promise of that run with a determined effort to land a hotly contested Conditions stakes at Newmarket two weeks ago. Mubeen will make this a test for the Rahay colt, but needs to have improved a little from his reappearance effort to prevail today. Scented Air should run her race and, although she does have claims on the very best of her form, she may find this company a little too warm for her.
