Luck may play as big a part as judgement in this apprentice handicap and the vote goes to the consistent Hucking Hope ahead of Black Oval and Joshua's Gold. The selection has only won once in 12 starts however he is very consistent and should give punters a run for their money. He is yet to really prove himself on quick ground, however he looks potentially well-berthed in stall 14 and is fancied to score, although his inexperienced jockey would have to be a slight doubt- however, 'judge not, lest you be judged' should be the order of the day and it could be that young Miss Amelia proves the ace in the pack. The Thrifty Bear is now out of form so is overlooked, and of more interest may be Alugat who tends to come good at this time of year and should be monitored for support. Black Oval has to be played very late but he has one of the more experienced jockeys aboard so don't rule out a big run, whilst Joshua's Gold is consistent and could run into a place. At a price Cadogen Square could go well, however Hucking Hope is taken to land the spoils.
