In depth

Verdict

Choysia, Riquewihr and Emperor's Well form the shortlist in this handicap and the vote is given to Emperor's Well. The selection won in facile fashion in a ladies race at Beverely on Tuesday and although he has a penalty for that success, it may not be enough to stop him. Choysia is an obvious danger as this half-sister to Winker Watson won well at Catterick last month when beating Inca Soldier. The slight worry with her though is her lack of consistency and she is far from guaranteed to reproduce that running here. Riquewihr dead-heated with Gap Princess last time here over 6f. The step-up in trip will not be a problem for this 7-year-old but she will find life tougher under her penalty. Tough Love may be a little high in the weights at presents but he does go well here and he could represent some value for each-way punters. However, Emperor's Well routed his field earlier in the week and looks a solid bet to score again.
