A chance is taken that Willie Ever can deliver on the promise he showed at Redcar last time out and he is selected in preference to Lewis Lloyd, Silly Gilly and Bessemer, who spearhead the challenge from the rest. Bessemer will have the assistance of a 3lb claimer and comes here on the back of a solid run on the All Weather last month. He does not win very often but is overdue a change of fortune. Watch the betting carefully where he is concerned. Silly Gilly will appreciate any give underfoot and, having gone close at Ripon 12 days ago, is obviously in good heart. She does need luck on her side in a field of this size, though. Lewis Lloyd is also in good heart and, as this is not much better than the seller he won at Redcar earlier in the campaign, he is respected as a threat. However, Willie Ever has more scope for improvement and this lightly raced son of Agnes World is taken as the best option now that he has proved that he has trained on as a four-year-old. Brian Ellison has not over faced the gelding and he is fancied to take this in his stride if he has come out of yesterday's engagement at Wolverhampton in tip top shape.
