In depth

Verdict

Shot In The Dark won over course and distance last month but will do well to follow up from out of the handicap in this stronger heat. Northern Bay could one for the short-list having only found one too good twice at Newton Abbot in the summer but he hasn't raced since September. The lightly-raced IVANHOE (NAP) was last seen on the Flat in August but the latter loves the mud and Nico De Boinville is a very interesting jockey booking. He beat recent Cheltenham third Kalimantan out of sight at Ffos Las a year ago and is actually better off at the weights today. Dun Scaith has switched stables since his third at Galway in October while After Eight Sivola may need more time, though has hinted at ability.
