In depth

Verdict

Prince Vector showed enough on his hurdling debut at Hereford last month to suggest that he can win races over hurdles but he may have to settle for a minor role here with Ouninpohja taken to make a winning start to his career over hurdles and score ahead of Alan King's gelding and Magical Quest. The selection was a useful if somewhat quirky type on the flat, has reportedly schooled really well at home and can be expected to be straight enough to make a winning start to his new career in the care of Paul Nicholls. Glad Big was capable on the level but was someway behind the selection on the flat and has given little cause for optimism in two starts over hurdles. Corran Ard could be of interest on his hurdles debut and first start for Evan Williams but a bigger threat is likely to come from the Philip Hobbs-trained Magical Quest, who was unexposed on the level and is an interesting recruit to the winter game. None of these are as interesting as Ouninpohja though and he is hard to oppose.
