Nonrunner

In depth

Verdict

SON OF FLICKA and The Jazz Musician are the two to concentrate on. Although neither represents a solid proposition, marginal preference is for Donald McCain's runner. Red Bishop has yet to show any sign of ability, Turnworth was tailed off in a fairly competitive race on his Rules debut while Agent Ben was well held when falling at Plumpton. The Jazz Musician initially showed smart form but nothing went right for him last season and there are mixed messages to be taken from this season's efforts. He fell at the second on his reappearance, faded tamely after travelling well at Plumpton before producing a very tame performance at Exeter so it's difficult to gauge how much ability he retains. The same is true of the selection who ran to a fair level of form in his novice season over hurdles but he was switched to Evan Williams after two runs this season. He didn't really fare any better in two runs for the Welsh handler and has failed to complete in two of his three starts over fences so he couldn't be a confident choice but Son Of Flicka still makes marginally more appeal than The Jazz Musician.
