In depth
Verdict
This looks to be the proverbial penalty kick for Numitas, with Sylphide the only other runner granted serious consideration, and the rest appearing to be racing for third placed money. Officially rated 33lb and more superior of the rest of the field, Numitas finished 14 lengths adrift of Garde Champetre in Grade 2 company at Aintree in April, and in the context of this race that is far superior to what anything else has achieved. A couple of abortive attempts in decent Flat company followed, before a resounding 12 length win back in this sort of contest at Uttoxeter last time marked him out as one to follow in novices this summer, and we will do so here. John Manners has done well with Sylphide, picking up a handicap chase and a novices' handicap hurdle so far this summer. She won't have any problems with trip or ground, but simply does not look in the same class as the selection in receipt of 7lb. Nothing else makes any sort of appeal and barring accidents Numitas looks to be home and hosed.
