Bude gets a tentative vote here against Pailitas and Xaipete in an uninspiring finale. Bude, at the age of 12, does not look to have a great deal of improvement in him, but valiantly tried to make all when third in a ladies race at Market Rasen on his last start over hurdles. Kept in tune with an outing on the Flat at Warwick three weeks ago, he may well be able to hold on if once again allowed to bowl along in the lead. Pailitas was a sprinter in Germany and his sole win over timber came in selling company. He has come down the weights lately, but any more rain would hinder his chance, while Xaipete will make his customary late charge but does have to give lumps of weight away to the selection. The rest make little or no appeal, and although Bude is unlikley to coast home, he can prove good enough.
