In depth

Verdict

Red Brook Lad is selected ahead of Benrajah, Garnett and Longstone Boy to name but a few. There is plenty of winning form to go on here, and all of the top lady riders have secured mounts, with our vote going to Charlotte Tizzard aboard Red Brook Lad. Charles Fox's 12-year-old has benefited from her inclusion in the saddle no less than seven times in all, and the partnership had the useful Knife Edge behind when scoring at Bangor on his last start. Benrajah had the distinction of landing the spoils in that most rare of events, a handicap hunter chase at Aintree last time. He goes well round here and now has the assistance of Rose Davidson. Garnett is going the right way but has more on his plate than at Huntingdon, while Longstone Boy claimed the scalp of Le Passing at Ludlow so has to merit a mention. Jenny Riding, Polly Gundry and Faye Bramley have all got rides, and in what should be a good race, Red Brook Lad gets the vote.
