A surprising and tremendously good turnout for a summer juvenile hurdle, with, quite remarkably, a runner who was performing at Royal Ascot only last month in the shape of Tom Dascombe's Art Of War. He did finish tailed off behind Elite Army in the King George V Stakes but previous maiden efforts had looked full of promise and it's an intriguing decision to see him here rather than continuing his education on the level. The market should reveal all we need to know about stable expectations. Gimme Five, Jazzy Lady and Intermath finished one-two-three at Uttoxeter and the winner can confirm placings despite his mandatory 7lb penalty. Avel Vor is a winning French import for Philip Hobbs who must be respected but GOODBYE DANCER was so impressive when quickening clear to score unchallenged on his Market Rasen debut that he immediately went into the notebook as one to follow until beaten.
