In depth

Verdict

With those that have racecourse experience looking an ordinary bunch here this may not take too much winning and it may rest between three debutantes, with Special Flight, Laertes Cause and Olifan d'Oudairies short listed and Laertes Cause the suggestion. The selection is sent over from Germany, where last time out he was good enough to contest a Group 1 flat race. Although this preview is done without having seen any of his four runs to date, he has gone well enough to suggest that if he can handle the track he has the speed to win this. Special Flight is respected from the Noel Chance yard that does so well in this sphere. He will have a hurdling career ahead but can nevertheless put up a good effort here, while Henry Daly's Olifan d'Oudairies is another who looks - on breeding at least - as though he will be suited by today's event. It's mere speculation then, but Laertes Cause probably has the right credentials to take this prize.
