In depth

Verdict

Leading Irish amateur Barry O’Neill is the regular partner of Eddies Miracle, who won a hunter chase at Down Royal in March and took an Open over 4m at Kinsale last Saturday. If a busy schedule doesn’t catch up, the Irish raider should be in the firing-line here. Master Baker boasts impressive form figures, as does Garde Ville. Ally Stirling’s mount Bally River Boy took a novice event at Fontwell on his debut under Rules while Fair Exchange beat Garde Ville between the flags last month before a second in a maiden at Cartmel. EXCITABLE ISLAND needed the intervention of the clerk of the scales and the stewards to claim first prize over 4m at Cheltenham last time but that was still an excellent run from Will Biddick’s mount, who can pass the post first here with a similar effort.
