Verdict

Not a race to get heavily involved in and it could be worth chancing Ede'Iff to make the most of her weight advantage to see off Monte Cristo and Three Eagles. The selection runs here out of novices' company for the first time, but she should not be phased by these opponents, none of whom are in the best of form. In five runs last season she showed some consistent form, winning over this trip at Ludlow and only just being pipped at Wincanton on her last start in April. She jumps well, handles cut and provided she is straight enough first time she can score. If she is off her game then Monte Cristo looks best of the rest. Lavinia Taylor's gelding also handles cut and is dropping back towards a winning mark, having been found out by the handicapper. However, even this trip may be stretching his stamina somewhat, and especially off this mark, so we will field against him on this occasion. Of the others, Three Eagles will ensure that this is a true gallop and try to make all, and while he is not totally out of it off this mark, he has never won over fences and today does not look likely to be the day when that stat changes, so we will stick with Ede'Iff to score on her handicap debut.
