A race to approach with caution as plenty of these are hard to win with and it is with a degree of trepidation that Minivet is forwarded as the main selection. However, there is very little to choose between Tee Jay and Undeniable after their recent meeting here in a falsely run race over a shorter trip, and along with Three Eagles, they are shortlisted as live dangers. That said, Minivet also has plenty going for him at this level and his arrives here on the back of his best effort for quite some time after finishing a good second at Haydock Park last month. That effort came over an inadequate distance but he still showed some of his old sparkle to keep going to the line. He is in a minority today as one who can confidently be expected to cope with the step up to three miles and he should be thereabouts if he negotiates a clear round of jumping. On a cautionary note, the Tim Easterby-trained eight-year-old has flattered to deceive on more than one occasion in the past, so an each way bet to nothing if Minivet is available at around 5/1 is advised as the best policy in a very tricky race to fathom out which horse is truly capable of forcing his head in front when it really matters.
