Scotch Pancake showed some promise from limited opportunities when with David Elsworth last season and may be worth chancing on his first start for Ed Dunlop today in a race that may not take much winning with the main threats looking to be Sopran Gath and Imperial Lucky. The last mentioned has been running with some consistency of late but may need some help from the handicapper before troubling the judge so he is probably best watched. Ruffie would have claims on the form shown when successful here last month but was a disappointment last time so is hard to back with any confidence, while Fangorn Forest was well held on his return. Of more interest may be Sopran Gath who is less exposed than most but the yard of John Hills is struggling for winners at present. That is not the case with Ed Dunlop though so a chance is taken with Scotch Pancake.
