Verdict

With most of these having no chance at the weights, there are just three to concentrate on in this. Returning from a lengthy break, Pure Coincidence shaped well enough on his return to action earlier this month behind Maktavish. He has done most of his racing over the minimum trip and has yet to convince over this extra furlong. He does have something in hand at the weights and providing he stays this trip, he should be concerned in the finish. Carlton looks sure to run his race, but he does have a little bit to find at the weights. He will appreciate the return to this grade, having struggled off his current mark in handicaps and will also be more at home over this trip. However, the one they all have to beat is Rudik, who should just about be cherry ripe after a couple of runs. Dandy Nicholls has his team in good form at present and although Rudik's win-to-run ratio is far from inspiring, the six-year-old is taken to add to his tally.
