Plenty of doubts about many of these, and the one who looks to have least to worry about is our selection, Victory Quest. Sue Lamyman's three-year-old has to defy a 7lb penalty here for winning over a mile and three-quarters here last time out, and the major doubt is not about his ability to handle the extra weight, but moreso the drop in trip by two furlongs. However, even though he has never won over shorter than 14 furlongs, his second to Coolbythepool at Ripon over today's trip suggests that he will be good enough here. Another who would prefer further is Mark Pitman-trained Marmaduke. Off the track for 526 days, that should not put off potential punters, as his trainer is a master at bringing them back from a long lay-off. Of more concern though, would be that this trip is too sharp for him.Further down the weights, Dubai Dreams will have no such worries, being a course and distance winner, but his 6lb hike for winning here on his penultimate starts will probably be enough to keep him behind the selection, as was the case last time out. Of the remainder, Trouble Mountain shoulders top weight but does have ability. However, 10 furlongs looks his optimum trip and a place may be his best hope, so we will side with Victory Quest.
