A fair hurdler, Gris De Pron hasn’t really fired over fences so far. Master Of Finance and Dr Dunraven are both recent winners and warrant respect. The former only beat three rivals at Fakenham, however, and the latter has gone up 9lb for landing a novices’ handicap at Worcester. VOLVALIEN lacks a recent run but that shouldn’t be a problem. He had form in better races last year and is only 2lb than for his last win. Free Stone Hill is proving very difficult to place and has been a beaten favourite the last twice off lower marks.

Master Of Finance (IRE) 2-1 (11-6) Led, jumped left 2nd and 3rd, headed next, slow 5th, led again before 4 out, driven clear after 2 out, mistake last, held on well, won at Fakenham 2m hcp (4) gd in Jun beating Gin And Tonic (10-0) by 1 3/4l, 4 ran.
