Kummel Excess looks to have a leading chance on these terms and it would be no surprise to see her bounce back to form as a result. However, she has been well beaten in both starts this year and CAPE KIMBERLEY is preferred. Tony Newcombe's charge is returning from a break but has gone well fresh before and, on his best form, is a match for the likely favourite. Residency has proved best over 5f so far, while Errigal Lad and Cape Of Storms have both been set a tough task at the weights here.
Cape of Storms 8-1 (9-6) Led, headed halfway, ridden 2f out, weakened final furlong, 5th of 8, 9l behind Final Salute (8-12) at Southwell 6f hcp 0-65 (6) fbs.
Residency (IRE) 11-1 (8-6) Dwelt, soon ridden along in rear, last of 9, 9l behind Bookiesindex Boy (9-7) at Southwell 5f hcp 0-75 (5) fbs.
Cape Kimberley 7-2fav (9-1) Tracked leader over 1f, prominent, ridden over 1f out, no extra well inside final furlong, 7th of 11, 2 1/2l behind The Happy Hammer (8-12) at Wolverhampton 7f hcp 0-70 (5) pol in Oct.
Errigal Lad 8-1 (9-2) In rear, ridden and headway over 2f out, kept on one pace final furlong, 5th of 11, 2 1/2l behind Dancing Freddy (9-4) at Southwell 6f hcp 0-60 (6) fbs.
Tawzeea (IRE) 11-2fav (9-4) Started slowly, behind, headway on inside 2f out, ridden and edged left over 1f out, stayed on same pace final furlong, 4th of 13, 2 1/4l behind Mottley Crewe (9-3) at Wolverhampton 6f hcp 0-60 (6) pol in Oct.
