    In depth

    Verdict

Waterloo Corner, Archie Glenn and Athens look the pick in this maiden and the confident vote is given to Waterloo Corner. The selection ran well behind Vancouver Gold when a beaten favourite on the AW here last time, but he didn't do a great deal wrong that day and a reproduction of that effort would see him go close here. Archie Glenn tackles this trip for the first time, but although he has shown a modicum of ability in his five races to date, he looks to have a bit to find to beat our selection. Athens ran well at Thirsk last time when a fair fifth behind Karashino, but he is bred to stay much further than this and he may be seen to better effect in the future over middle distances. Mysteriosa is from a leading yard and is worth noting in the market, although she has been well beaten in her two runs to date, and we will stick with Waterloo Corner as our idea of the winner.
