A wide open contest gets proceedings underway but the main protagonists appear to be Geronimo, Mount Royal and Boisdale and we will take a chance on the latter. The gelding from the bang in form Dandy Nicholls yard is a course and distance winner. He was a fair sixth behind his stable companion Ballybunion last time in a handicap. He will find this easier and as long as the rain stays away he will be hard to beat. Geronimo rates the main danger. He is another that goes well at this track and his latest third behind Ashtree Belle at Wolverhampton indicated that he was returning to form. Mount Royale is another that should go well but his best efforts of later have come over a longer trip. Of the remainder Waxwing and Xaloc Bay are from yards in form but they will have to improve on there latest efforts to defeat our selection Boisdale.
