Verdict

GENERAL TUFTO can overcome a modest draw to account for Moyoko and Muncaster Castle. Ironically, the wide draw might not be such an issue this afternoon as General Tufto has exhibited a pronounced tendency to hang sharply left in his races, as he showed again on Sunday. He seems to have thrived for racing and with Holly Hall able to take off a valuable 7lb in the context of this race, we are prepared to row in again. Moyoko has been in decent form around Wolverhampton but has never raced at Southwell previously. With Paul Hanagan booked, the market is watched. Muncaster Castle won his first race for some time when scoring in a similarly low grade handicap over the mile. There were some desperate sorts in behind but that was a fair effort given it had followed an absence. Very Well Red has slipped to a helpful mark though he may be flattered by his proximity to General Tufto last week. Piccolo Diamante is in a similar predicament though his trainer's good form seems to have come to a shuddering halt. Course and distance winner, Only A Grand, is always worth a second look in the betting but it is the layers that have been smiling. Almahaza had a degree of ability when trained by Amanda Perrett so don't be surprised to see improvement for a first run back. Mister Benji is a regular in low grade races of this nature and could have place claims once again. General Tufto can score again.
