        Verdict

        A couple of the leading amateur riders have a shout with Simon Walker partnering course winner Ralphy Lad. But the latter arrives out of form and preference goes to FREE BOUNTY, a winner over 2m on the all-weather with Serena Brotherton doing the steering today. Thackeray handles the surface though has yet to look like winning here while Merriment remains 5lb higher than her win at Newcastle in November. Port Lairge went close at the track in between his more usual modest efforts and Noguchi can figure if in the mood.
