        Verdict

        Alareef scored over 7f and 6f on Dirt here last winter but has failed each time he's been tried over this trip. Active Spirit had stable companion Nathr five lengths behind when they were 1-2 over a slightly longer trip in February and though not sparkling so far this campaign needed a few runs to put him straight last term. He couldn't live with the much improved North America last time when MUHTARAM finished runner-up and the latter looks the one to be on. He'd won a course and distance handicap on his previous start and jockey Fernando Jara was in winning form over the weekend. Secret Ambition has done well since transferring from Mark Johnston though his two victories have been in lesser grade at Jebel Ali.
