Unexposed on the All-Weather with one win from one outing, Balakiref should be capable of further improvement. He has shown a fair level of form on the grass, most notably when handing out a beating to Undeterred and Night Flight in a classified event at Doncaster back in July. A re-production of that effort would make him hard to beat here. He may be followed home by Northern Games, who wasn't beaten far on the polytrack at Lingfield. A winner on the fibresand at Wolverhampton, he clearly handles this slower surface. Others to consider include course winner Silver Mascot and Yorkie, who should be suited to this slower surface, as he was at his best on the grass when there was plenty of give underfoot.
