Newnham was ultimately disappointing here on Saturday when second to Sri Lipis but Jim Boyle's gelding may have more use made of him today by Eddie Ahern and, in a poor contest, he is taken to finally get his head in front and score at the main expense of Silsong and Dance Troupe. The last mentioned was placed in five of his six starts in France but lack of a run on sand and, just as importantly, a previous outing for new connections is a concern and he may be best watched at present. The four-year-old Gallas is a long-standing maiden and appears to have little chance but Paul Blockey's horses are in better form now than for some time so he would have place claims at least, while Expression Echo is less exposed than most and may be open to improvement. The ex-Sir Michael Stoute-trained Whole Grain, who has been campaigned abroad without any success, could be of interest first time out for Rod Millman but he is another probably to watch rather than bet on and of more interest may be Silsong. Gay Kelleway's filly has plenty to find with the selection on running here on Saturday but has claims on earlier form and cannot be discounted. However, Newnham has an obvious chance and he gets the vote.
