In depth

Verdict

Spunger, Mr Excel and Stravara are the three to look at here, and although none of the three have been out this season, Harry Dunlop can maintain his excellent start to his training career as he saddles Spunger. Jamie Osborne's Mr Excel has not been seen since winning at Wolverhampton last November but he has shown his liking for an all weather surface-his other good run came previously at Lingfield, and if he is fit he can go well. Stravara showed improved form on his third start last season to get up on the line on heavy ground at Nottingham. He is improving, but his failure to re-appear before now suggests he may have had a problem or two. Spunger finished off last season with nursery wins at Musselburgh and Nottingham, and off only a five pound higher mark than his last win, he looks fairly treated. The yard's first runner won at Wolverhampton on Thursday, and Spunger can make it two out of two.
